When We Two Parted

lyrics

I sold my soul to the women on the corner of my street
She showed me many things, best left unsaid
To be the one that she chose, I guess that was quite an honour
But I’d be the last one, to ever see her

I knew I shouldn’t be there, she knew she had me scared
It’s at times like these that I wish, I wish I had the strength to need her

I was thinking of life in a way that makes me evil
The judge labelled me a fool and I guess I think I believed him
And in the end I guess it makes me your devil
Sticks and stones may break my bones but I’m still here

She placed the gun in my hands, she lay across the bed
Said that she had no regrets, look who’s dead

And so our story it ends in tears, what a waste what a way
It’s at times like these you wish you were not real, or so you say
Close your eyes look to the sky, there’s a brighter day for you
Times goes by so you know that it’s true
No matter what you do they’ll pick on you, and they’ll suss you out
And as time goes by you know that it’s true
